Driving Licence Update

Important changes to vehicle hire services

As of the 8th June 2015, the DVLA are abolishing the paper counter part of the UK photo card driving licence.

Paper driving licences issued before the photo card was introduced 1998 will remain valid and should not be destroyed. UK driving licence holders who hire with us will need to use the DVLA’s new online service ‘Share Driving Licence’ to validate their record in order to hire with us.

You will need the following information

  • Driving Licence Number
  • National Insurance Number
  • Postcode

Once requested your passcode will be valid for 21 days, this must be valid when collecting your hire vehicle.

The pass code will allow us to see what vehicles you can drive, any penalty points or disqualifications, your name and the last eight characters of your driving licence number.

When collecting the vehicle, you will still need to present a valid photo card driving licence or the old style paper licence, along with a bank statement/utility bill dated in the last 2 months. More info can be seen in our terms & conditions which you agree to when booking a vehicle.
